Blacksmithing Guide
Blacksmithing is one of Build 42’s flagship new crafting paths — the route to forging your own tools and weapons when looting is no longer an option.
Forge Setup
Blacksmithing begins with a working forge and the right station equipment. Establishing that setup is an investment, but it unlocks genuine independence from looted metal tools.
Material Gathering
Forging consumes metal, fuel for the forge, and time. A blacksmithing operation needs a steady materials pipeline — scrap metal, fuel — feeding it, so plan the supply chain alongside the forge itself.
Crafting Priorities
Early on, prioritise forging tools and durable melee weapons that directly extend your survival. Decorative or marginal items can wait until the core toolkit is secure.
Repair Economy
The deeper value of blacksmithing is repair and renewal. A survivor who can forge and refurbish metal gear is no longer on a countdown timer toward broken tools — the run becomes genuinely self-sustaining.
